The 2022/23 Youth Artistic Instigators present project: ICARUS

Happy pride! Happy birthday! Happy possible last day of the world as we know it?

project: ICARUS is an impassioned call to action about the need for radical care and community in times of increasing hate, uncertainty and global turmoil. Collectively imagined by the Youth Artistic Instigators, this devised piece of theatre is performed by an energetic youth ensemble in deep conversation with the world they are inheriting and fighting to change.

Lead Facilitator and Director: Javon Q. Minter
Teaching Assistant and Sound Designer: Jordan Powell
Lighting Designer: Josh Martinez-Davis
Stage Manager: Martikah Williams

The Youth Artistic Instigators brings together high school students from across the greater NYC area to create bold, activist theatre. At workshops and rehearsals, the ensemble collaborates to write and perform an original piece of theatre that responds to urgent current events, builds community and advocates for social justice—all while having fun in the process.
