With the deadline for our NYTW 2050 Administrative Fellowship less than a month away, we thought we’d take a moment to hear all about what our current fellows have learned so far this year.
Do you envision yourself working with donors as part of the Development team, or supporting new plays as the Artistic Workshop Fellow? Do you hope to lead Education and Engagement workshops and programming, or maybe use skills in Marketing to support the local community?
Read on below, get to know which projects each of our fellows work on at the Workshop, and see if any spark your interest.
Register for our virtual info session on March 16th at 6-7:30pm and then apply to the fellowship here by March 27th at 11:59pm ET!
Meet Our Development Fellow!
Chandler (she/her)
Zodiac sign: Pisces
Favorite NYTW show: Slave Play
Some projects I work on in the office are…pulling seatbooks to help Team Devo know who to expect at the show each week, helping with events and the Gala.
But my favorite is…the revamp of the 4th Street Bar Association (our young donor program)
My favorite aspect of the fellowship is…being able to work both on the day-to-day tasks needed in the Devo department, but also on bigger picture projects than provide long-term impact for the Workshop.
One thing I’ve learned so far in the fellowship: Fundraising is incredibly strategic: it’s all about considering the organization or person you’re speaking with and finding a way that their goals intersect with the Workshop’s needs.
Something that’s surprised me about the fellowship: I thought there might be more siloes by department, but I’ve been surprised that there is actually a lot of inter-departmental communication and collaboration! We all work together to make things happen for the Workshop!
My favorite object in the office is…definitely my face-stamp. Allie, the Director of Development, gives everyone in Team Devo stamps of our faces.

Meet Our Education & Engagement Fellow!
Julie (they/them)
Zodiac sign: Pisces
Favorite NYTW show: How to Defend Yourself (I directed it in college in 2023), and of the current season, My Joy is Heavy 🙂
Some projects I work on in the office are…
I coordinate all of our in-school programming and student matinees through our “Learning Workshop” program. I also create study guides for each of the shows and assistant teach Mind the Gap and Youth Artistic Instigators.
But my favorite is…
Getting to teach for our various programs and in-school workshops! I’m currently Music Directing for Lower Manhattan Arts Academy’s school musical (The Addams Family) as their skills-based residency for the year.
My favorite aspect of the fellowship: Meeting so many people from the NYTW community and feeling like a real, integrated member of the staff. Everyone is super kind and supportive, so it’s been a great year of networking and learning in a safe but challenging environment.
One thing I’ve learned so far in the fellowship: Working in the education department has taught me how to balance long-term vision with on-the-ground programming. Because our work is all in pursuit of a large goal to build and strengthen the NYTW community (locally, throughout NYC, and even beyond), it can sometimes be easy to lose sight of the importance of the day-to-day work. Through working with Psacoya and the Education team, I’ve strengthened my ability to use the on-the-ground connections and relationships I’m making with community members as the building blocks towards our long-term goal, and to recognizing the importance of knowing your ultimate vision and then thinking concretely about the steps we can take to get there.
Something that’s surprised me about the fellowship: How much agency I have over what I get out of it! Even though there are some tasks that have to get done in my workflow and throughout the year, I’ve gotten to tailor my experience to the skills I’m looking to build and the goals I’ve wanted to accomplish.
My favorite object in the office is: The cold-water container <3
