Film starts at 6pm
Join us for a mixer from 5pm to 6pm!
We would love for you to join us on Friday, November 21, from 6–7:30 PM for a free public screening of Alexis Bittar & Bruce Cohen’s Reclaim the Flag, hosted by FABnyc at 70 E 4th St. This powerful documentary exploring what the American flag means today and how we might reclaim it. Featuring legendary activists Bill T. Jones and Raquel Willis, RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Symone, trailblazing creator Lena Waithe, and community leaders like former Ford Foundation President Darren Walker, the film weaves together voices from across art, activism, and culture to ask: Who does the flag belong to and who gets to define it? Stay for a post-film conversation with featured artists and community leaders as we reflect on how symbols, stories, and movements can unite or divide us and how we might reclaim them together.
The evening will also feature performances by NYTW artists Heidi Schreck and Liza Jessie Peterson and members of NYTW’s Youth Artistic Instigators, followed by calls to action, space to connect, reflect, and celebrate the power of art to move us and mobilize us. Come early for our community mixer from 5-6 PM, grab some refreshments, meet fellow artists and neighbors, and kick off an inspiring night of creativity and conversation.
Fall of Freedom is an urgent call to the arts community to unite in defiance of authoritarian forces sweeping the nation. Beginning November 21–22, 2025, galleries, museums, libraries, comedy clubs, theaters, and concert halls across the country will host exhibitions, performances, and public events that channel the urgency of this moment. Fall of Freedom is an open invitation to artists, creators, and communities to take part—and to celebrate the experiences, cultures, and identities that shape the fabric of our nation.
