Job Description
New York Theatre Workshop, one of the city's leading not-for-profit Off Broadway theatre companies, seeks a dynamic, organized, and unflappable individual to serve as its Box Office Manager. For more than three decades, NYTW has provided a home to artists to hone their creative voice, a space for them to develop their projects and a platform to produce ground-breaking work. The Workshop is currently represented on Broadway by Once and is renowned for a long list of acclaimed work including Jonathan Larson's Rent, Rick Elice's Peter and the Starcatcher, Tony Kushner's Homebody/Kabul, along with Caryl Churchill's Far Away, A Number and last season's Love and Information. NYTW's productions have received a Pulitzer Prize, 17 Tony Awards, and assorted Obie, Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel Awards.
The Box Office Manager oversees the box office for a 199 seat Off-Broadway theatre. Reporting directly to the Director of Marketing, responsibilities include managing of the box office in a fast paced environment, serving as the primary liaison with Ticket Central ticketing services, overseeing box office staff including training and scheduling, generating daily reconciliation and other detailed box office reports, acting as the face of NYTW to the general public and member base, troubleshooting ticketing and audience issues as they arise, and crafting communication to be shared with the subscriber base.
The ideal candidate will be able to effectively handle customer service for a subscription and single ticket based audience, have a passion for theatre and enjoy interacting with patrons. Work schedule that includes some days, evenings and weekends. Audience View experience a plus.
