The 2023/24 Youth Artistic Instigators present THIS IS OUR HOUSE

America is a crumbling house. As the elements and human upheavals batter the house’s structure, we cannot declare our work is over.

THIS IS OUR HOUSE is a brave look inside our American house and the youth that struggle to find a place of safety and belonging inside it. What happens the day after the tempest? Will we fix our house/city/country/world? Will we take care of its inhabitants? Collectively imagined and written by the Youth Artistic Instigators, this devised piece of theatre is performed by an energetic youth ensemble in deep conversation about the places they call home and the world in turmoil they are inheriting from previous generations.

Lead Facilitator and Director: Alexander Santiago-Jirau

The Fourth Street Theatre is accessed by climbing eight steps from street level. Unfortunately, the building is not equipped with an elevator.

The Youth Artistic Instigators brings together high school students from across the greater NYC area to create bold, activist theatre. At workshops and rehearsals, the ensemble collaborates to write and perform an original piece of theatre that responds to urgent current events, builds community and advocates for social justice—all while having fun in the process.
