Funerals are for the living. What happened, why, who did it and how — none of that matters in the moments before. ZÜRICH is a play about the moments before, as hotel guests enjoy the last moments of their private, awkward, funny and not-so-funny lives. A series of two-handers, strangers struggle with nationalism, tourism, social responsibility, isolation, class and gender expectations. In a time of global crisis, what does neutrality mean for a country full of banks? For any of us?

Fifteen minutes prior to all sold-out performances, a limited number of rush tickets may be available for $30 cash, subject to availability. Those waiting for rush tickets will be served on a first-come, first-served basis. Each individual may purchase up to two tickets.

  • Sami Molly Bray

    Fryda

    Sami Bray is a 10 year old 4th grader from Memphis, Tennessee. Previous credits include 1984 on Broadway and How the Grinch Stole Christmas at the Grand Ole Opry. She recently performed in the Developmental Lab for Ragtime at Ellis Island and a staged reading for Looking for Christmas. She has also been seen recently in “Law and Order, SVU” and “Gotham”. She wants to thank Adrienne Campbell-Holt for giving her this incredible opportunity. She also wants to thank David Doan and Mallory Tucker at CESD Talent and Sherry Kayne at GreenRoom Management.

    She

    Juliana Canfield recently starred in the Theater for a New Audience production of He Brought Her Heart Back in a Box, in what the Hollywood Reporter described as an “an affecting performance” and Vulture Magazine claimed as “luminous.” Juliana most recently shot a recurring role on the upcoming HBO series “Succession”, produced by Adam McKay. She graduated with an MFA from the Yale School of Drama in 2017.

TV: “High Maintenance,” “Foursome.” Training: MFA, NYU; AB, Harvard University.

    Most recent: “The Magnificent Meyersons” (indie), Sam Hunter’s The Healing, M.J. Kaufman’s How To Live On Earth. Her first Broadway show was La Strada. It lasted one night. Others included Boom Boom Room at Lincoln Center, (matinees for Madeline Kahn), Sherlock Holmes and Travesties for the RSC. They lasted longer, as did Second City, the Committee, several regional theaters, E.S.T. the Actors Studio, the Goodman, and many off Broadway shows you never saw. She has done and been cut out of numerous movies, many TV pilots that didn’t sell, countless TV shows & commercials, which never aired, and voiced all the female characters in the original “Thundercats”. She is so grateful to be a working actor for all these years.

    Austin Smith made his professional debut starring in Soho Rep’s Obie Award-winning production of An Octoroon by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins at Theatre for a New Audience. He is also an original Broadway cast member of Hamilton, (Aaron Burr and George Washington u/s). He was last seen in the world premiere of Sarah Ruhl’s How To Transcend a Tappy Marriage at Lincoln Center Theater starring Marisa Tomei and directed by Rebecca Taichman. Television credits include “Odd Mom Out” and the upcoming HBO series “Random Acts of Flyness”. He is a graduate of The Juilliard School.

Matt’s short film “Later Barry” recently premiered in competition at The SOHO International Film Festival. He is a proud company member of Colt Coeur and The Actor’s Center and the recipient of a Laura Pels Foundation Award.

    He

    A New Jersey native, Paul has starred in dozens of film and television series throughout the years. His theater work includes Cal in Camo (Rattlestick Theater) and Frankenstein (Signature Theater). His upcoming projects include the Netflix mini-series “Medal of Honor” for producer Robert Zemeckis. He co-starred in, as well as produced, “Before I Disappear” which went on to win the SXSW Film Festival Audience Award as well as compete in the Venice Film Festival. Other credits include “24”, “American Dreams”, HBO’s “Shot in the Heart” directed by Oscar nominee Agnieszka Holland as well as Liongate’s “Peaceful Warrior”, among others. Paul is co-founder of Citizen Media, a production company based at Warner Brothers Television studios where he serves as a producer as well as director. He resides in NYC.

Amelia Roper / Playwright

Amelia is an award winning Australian-American writer and activist, currently writing for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Marin Theatre Company, The Rose and adapting Two Serious Ladies by Jane Bowles for Yale Repertory Theatre. Her plays have been seen in Moscow, London, Sydney, Melbourne, the Humana Festival of New American Plays at ATL, Taffety Punk in DC, Square Product in Boulder, Prelude Festival NYC and Crowded Fire in SF. Showcase and developments include the Old Vic in London, Soho Rep Writer / Director Lab, Black Swan Lab at OSF, Berkeley Rep’s Ground Floor, Kennedy Center in DC, Playwrights Realm in NYC, New Group NYC, The MacDowell Colony, Black Swan at OSF and Boston Court in LA. Published plays include Big Sky Town, Camberwell House and She Rode Horses Like The Stock Exchange with an introduction by Sarah Ruhl. New plays include Lottie in the Late Afternoon, Everything Is Nice, Aliya In Americaland and A Duck On A Bike. She works on the Netflix / Jenji Kohan show “GLOW”, develops TV and features in LA and Australia, works for Gloria Steinem, and is one of the original Hollywood women involved in the Time’sUp movement. Amelia has an MFA in playwriting from the Yale School of Drama.

Adrienne is is the Founding Artistic Director of Colt Coeur, a Brooklyn-based theatre company and the recipient of the 2018 Lucille Lortel Visionary Director Award. Recent: Afterwords, a new musical by Zoe Sarnak and Emily Kaczmarek (Village Theater, Seattle), What We’re Up Against (WP Theater), world premiere of Empathitrax by Ana Nogueira (Colt Coeur @ HERE, 2016), world premiere of Cal in Camo by William Francis Hoffman (co-pro Rattlestick & Colt Coeur), Dear Elizabeth by Sarah Ruhl (Dorset Theater Festival). Colt Coeur / Producing Company

During the past 7 years, Colt Coeur has produced 8 world premieres; developed 28 plays; and provided free arts education to 100+ NYC students. Taking a multi-pronged approach to development and education, we nurture emerging theater artists in our annual Parity Plays Festival, our Play Hotel reading series, and in our annual free Education Initiative for underserved NYC public school students. We create plays from scratch and produce stunning world premieres on shoestring budgets. All 8 of our productions have been published and had subsequent productions nationally and internationally. With outlets including The New York Times and Variety writing rave reviews of our productions, Colt Coeur has served as a launching ground for nationally-celebrated artists including Tony-winners Steven Levenson (playwright) and Paloma Young (costume designer), and actor Ato Essandoh. We have also built partnerships with organizations including HERE, St. Ann’s Warehouse, New York Theatre Workshop, Women’s Project and Rattlestick.
