Claudia Shear reads an article about the restoration of the David.

Christopher Ashley calls Shear to commission a play and Shear begins doing research for Restoration.

2008-2009
Shear travels to Florence three times to visit the statue and conduct interviews.

2008-2009
Developmental work and readings begin at La Jolla Playhouse.

June 2009
Restoration premieres at La Jolla under the direction of Ashley.

October 2009
Shear is sent by NYTW to Italy for a month of research.

March 2010
Restoration begins rehearsals at New York Theatre Workshop, as Shear continues to develop the play.

April 2010
Restoration begins performances at New York Theatre Workshop.
